Lynn Snyder’s path to Brethren Care Village was a winding one, but her passion for caring for others has been a constant throughout her life. After losing both her mother and husband within a short span, Lynn found herself searching for a new purpose. Her background was in dentistry, but she knew she could only work part-time. It was then that she discovered her true calling: senior care.

“I had always worked in dentistry and loved it, but I knew I could only do part-time,” Snyder explains. “There were no part-time jobs available, and I had healed enough that I was ready to be useful again.”

Snyder began working at another senior living facility, but it wasn’t the right fit. “If I can’t refer family friends to that place, I don’t want to work there. It’s about the quality of care.”

Snyder’s commitment to providing exceptional care is evident in her interactions with the residents at Brethren Care Village. She has a special way of connecting with each individual, whether it’s making beds for a resident who appreciates her attention to detail or taking another shopping and chatting about her love of fashion.

“I’ve gotten to know these men and ladies, and it’s remarkable to learn about their lives,” Snyder says. “I love hearing their stories. Making those connections and hearing about their lives is as important to me as the paycheck.”

Through these relationships, Snyder has had the privilege of hearing the residents’ stories—tales of wartime heroism, life-changing moments, and the simple joys of everyday life. “Working with them and seeing their happiness is incredible. They often feel like they have no use anymore, but I remind them they have so much to share.”

Lynn’s empathy and genuine interest in her residents’ lives have not gone unnoticed. “The nurses and residents often tell me how helpful I’ve been. They know they can always ask for advice, and I’m here to help.”

As she approaches her seventh year at Brethren Care Village, her dedication to enriching the lives of the residents continues to grow. “Seeing their happiness and knowing they feel valued is so rewarding,” she says. It’s this unwavering commitment to fostering meaningful connections that makes Lynn Snyder a true asset to the Brethren Care Village community.
