Naomi Taylor has spent over a decade pouring her heart into caring for the residents of Brethren Care Village. As an STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) for 12 years, Naomi built deep, meaningful relationships with the people she served.
“The residents make this an incredible place,” she says. “Seeing them every day makes all the hard work totally worth it.”
Naomi has been privileged to hear the incredible stories and vivid memories of the residents at Brethren Care Village. One of her favorites is about a woman who, as a young girl, helped pay to repaint a water tower after her son and his friends had climbed up and painted it themselves.
“It kind of made me feel like, oh, hey, you know, all kids are ornery,” Naomi says with a smile, reflecting on the two children she is raising at home. “It’s just amazing to see how your life connects with theirs, to understand that even though they’ve lived through so many changes, we’re alike in so many ways.”
Last year, Naomi’s own health took an unexpected turn when she underwent emergency surgery that left her unable to continue her work as an STNA. But rather than losing this dedicated and caring employee, the team at Brethren Care Village recognized Naomi’s invaluable contributions and created a new role for her as an administrative assistant.
“I didn’t want to work anywhere else. I love it here,” she says. “So I was so thankful to be able to be part of this community.” .
Now, as an administrative assistant, Naomi still has the chance to interact with the residents, which she cherishes.
Naomi’s unwavering dedication and the organization’s commitment to supporting its employees are a testament to the values that make Brethren Care Village a truly special place. From the resident-oriented activities to the focus on building meaningful connections, Naomi has witnessed firsthand the transformative impact that can occur when an organization truly values its people.
